Our Curriculum
Our curriculum fosters opportunities for exploration and growth in all areas of development – including children’s minds, bodies, social and emotional lives, and language abilities.  It is based upon a variety of resources including the Maine Early Learning Guidelines, Ladders to Literacy, Creative Curriculum, and many others.

Our Classroom

This class of combined three and four year olds offers the opportunity for sustained play as the best way for meaningful learning. Projects and activities are centered around topics that are relevant to children’s own life experiences. Learning centers provide the children with access to many kinds of materials to help them develop and practice fine-motor skills.  These areas are designed to stretch the children’s capacities to problem solve and reason, and to help them refine their ability to play and work with other children. The children are encouraged to express what they know verbally and through many forms of art media.  Music and movement are an important part of each day. We love to cook in this class, too!

Much emphasis is placed on developing and fostering the child’s awareness of print, and love of books. Small group activities are often centered around a good book!  Emerging literacy is supported naturally through our activities rather than directly taught in structured activities in this classroom.  We believe in encouraging individual children as they learn to recognize initial sounds, and play with rhyming words.  We sing and rhyme and read every day!

Our Calendar
We are a 10 month program, and observe the same calendar as MSAD51.

Our Staff
The staff at hear-ME-now is made up of a dedicated team of teachers and therapists who specialize in early childhood development and intervention.  Our goal is to meet individual needs of children in a nurturing and supportive environment.  Our staff includes an early childhood educator, early childhood special educator, classroom aide.  We also have speech therapists, occupational and physical therapists, and a teacher of the deaf that support our classrooms based on the individual needs of our children.
